Obama agrees with military action inside Pakistan

Argentina News.Net
Saturday 27th September, 2008

During the first presidential debate on Friday night, Democrat Barack Obama agreed with the current White House policy of attacking Pakistan to root out terrorism.

Ridiculing the ten billion dollar aid which the US administration had paid to the Pakistani military with little result, Obama argued on Friday night that Bush should have carried out military action inside Pakistan "years ago".

Obama also argued that he would take the war to Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's cave door, whether Pakistan cooperated or not.

On the other hand, McCain argued that without Pakistan's cooperation, any such operation was doomed.

For months, McCain and Obama have argued over whether Iraq was the right war to fight in 2003, but last night they delved for the first time into the problems one of them will face on January 20th after assuming the presidency; whether America has to be ready to carry out military action inside Pakistan, an important ally.

An article in the New York Times said: "It was Obama who seemed more aligned with President Bush's current policy of authorizing American special forces to cross the Afghan-Pakistan border into Pakistan's tribal areas that Al Qaeda and the Taliban have used as a sanctuary."

According to the paper, McCain took the position that Bush had taken until this summer, when the President gave up on the Pakistani government in frustration.

Lately, without going public, Bush loosened the reins on American forces to go into sovereign Pakistani territory.

Obama said it was and always has been Pakistan's tribal areas and the neighboring areas of Afghanistan which have been the "central front" in the war on terrorism.

But, on the other hand, McCain said that Iraq was the central front, noting that Bin Laden himself had declared that as the battleground with America.

No to further wars

why does Obama think that war with pakistan will end terrorism?what has america gained from their anti-terrorism campaign in iraq &afghanistan which have claimed over 4000 US soldiers and has had serious negative implications on the US economy?
Have the terrorists been defeated by the unending bloodshed?is it not time for a re-think by the USA.is it not evident now that might is not always right? The USA should take steps to halt the beating and disgrace they have been receiving and reconstruct their economy.Starting another war with or in Pakistan will achieve NOTHING.it will only make matters to be worse and may kickstart the 3rd World War.
War has never solved a problem. All parties to war should realise this and seek other avenues to achieve peace.

Obama will end up to be another disaster for US foreign policy given his comment of attacking another country after seven years of failed policy. The American people should reject both of these candidates and vote for a third candidate who can think not in terms of war, and more war.It is extremely unfortunate that the American people do no see the need for drastic changes in US foeign policies that have brought such calamaties to the US and other countries.

I think this article has misinterpreted Obama's stance

I watched the debate last night and I’m going to watch it again but I did not get that this was Obama’s stance. I knew he was trying to be tough but he did not indicate that he would just go into Pakistan and bomb Pakistani towns without permission like Bush recently did.

Obama agrees with military action inside Pakistan

Obma {NATO-NO ACTION-TALK ONLY} shows
his lack of Experience in International
Matters. I would expect that type of Comment from George Bush.
