BUENOS AIRES, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Veteran Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain could leave Juventus to join his brother Federico at Major League Soccer (MLS) club DC United, according to media reports.
Higuain is contracted to Juventus until June 2021 but is understood to be tempted to reunite with his older sibling, who joined DC United in March.
The Washington-based outfit has identified Higuain as an ideal replacement for Wayne Rooney, who departed last August to return to his native England as a player-coach with Championship side Derby County.
The brothers have not played in the same team since their time at River Plate's youth academy in the early to mid-2000s.
Gonzalo, 32, has since had spells with Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, Milan and Chelsea. He has also been capped 75 times for Argentina's national team, scoring 31 goals and playing in three World Cups.
Federico, 35, has spent time at Turkey's Besiktas as well as Argentina's Independiente and Colon, among other clubs.
