BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- A stoppage-time goal from Matias Suarez fired River Plate to a dramatic 1-0 away victory over Independiente in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday.
Despite dominating possession, the visitors struggled for a cutting edge in the final third before Suarez broke the deadlock in the 92nd minute when he fired home from eight yards.
River is now seventh in the 28-team Primera Division standings with 18 points from 12 games, seven points behind leader Atletico Tucuman. Independiente is 25th with 11 points.
Earlier, Franco Cristaldo converted an 88th-minute penalty to give Huracan a 1-0 away win over Aldosivi.
In other matches on Sunday, Newell's Old Boys and Colon played out a goalless draw in Rosario and Estudiantes held host San Lorenzo to a 0-0 draw.
