BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Veteran striker Pablo Vegetti scored either side of halftime as Belgrano clinched a 2-1 home win over River Plate in Argentina's Primera Division on Saturday.
Vegetti put the hosts ahead just after the half-hour mark by slotting home after an Ariel Rojas cross. The 34-year-old again combined with Rojas to double the lead in the 67th minute, sending a cool finish past goalkeeper Nahuel Losada.
Nacho Fernandez pulled a late goal back for River when he rifled home from outside the 18-yard box following Pablo Solari's assist nine minutes from time.
The result leaves Belgrano fifth in the 28-team standings with four points from two games while River Plate are eighth, a point further back.
In other Primera Division fixtures on Saturday, Barracas Central won 5-2 at Sarmiento, Estudiantes drew 1-1 at Arsenal Sarandi, Argentinos Juniors won 1-0 at home to Racing Club and Lanus secured a 2-1 home win over San Lorenzo.
