BUENOS AIRES, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Andres Vombergar scored two second-half goals as San Lorenzo kept alive their title hopes with a 2-0 home win over Instituto in Argentina's Primera Division on Saturday.
Vombergar put the hosts ahead by converting a 71st-minute penalty after he was brought down by Fernando Alarcon.
He doubled the advantage when he again converted from the spot 16 minutes later after Jorge Carranza tripped Federico Gattoni, an offense that earned the goalkeeper a straight red card.
The result leaves San Lorenzo second with 35 points from 17 games, two points behind leaders River Plate, who have a game in hand.
Instituto are 17th in the 28-team standings with 20 points.
In other Argentine Primera Division fixtures on Saturday, Lanus won 1-0 at home to Newell's Old Boys and Tigre were held to a goalless home draw by Tucuman.
