BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez could join Benfica in the European winter transfer window, according to media reports in Argentina.
The Portuguese giants have made preliminary enquiries about the 21-year-old and are willing to pay up to eight million euros for his signature, TyC Sports reported on Wednesday.
Benfica currently have two Argentinians in their squad: winger Angel di Maria and defender Nicolas Otamendi.
Fernandez, who represented Argentina at youth level, has also reportedly attracted the interest of Spanish club Sevilla.
The playmaker has made 34 starts for Boca since his first-team debut in 2021. He spent last year on loan at Tigre, with whom he made 42 appearances across all competitions.
